Reflexology is a complementary, holistic therapy in which specific pressure is applied to your feet (or hands) to assist your body to return to equilibrium and heal itself. Illness, stress, injury or disease can leave your body in a state of imbalance, causing inefficient functioning. Reflexology can restore and maintain your body’s natural balance and encourage healing.
During Reflexology I will use my hands to apply pressure to specific areas of your feet, tailoring the treatment to your specific needs and problems. I will be able to detect tiny deposits and imbalances in the feet and will work on these areas to release blockages and improve elimination. During a treatment, I will work over the entire foot, thereby covering every area of your body, so not only will your specific symptoms be relieved, but also as the treatment is holistic, it will bring your whole body back into balance. Tension will be eased and circulation and elimination improved.
Reflexology may help relieve the symptoms of:
The effects of Reflexology on your body may not always remove the cause of diseases, but you may be made more comfortable and the symptoms bearable, with a reduction in pain levels. It may significantly improve your general condition, activating excretory organs, normalising the respiratory systems and assisting in better control and function of the bladder and bowels, thus improving your quality of life.
Reflexology treats the whole person, not just the symptoms of disease and is suitable for anyone of any age.
Hand Reflexology is also available for anyone who would prefer not to get their feet out!! It is also useful if you have problems with your feet or an injury that would make Foot Reflexology uncomfortable. Also some people just love to have their hands massaged.
Description of the Treatment
A Reflexology treatment will last approximately one hour, but you should allow one and a half hours for the first treatment to enable time for an initial consultation. This consultation will be totally confidential and will cover such issues as general health problems, medical history, medication, lifestyle and diet to better enable me to understand your problems and tailor the treatment accordingly. You will also have the opportunity to discuss any areas of particular concern and what you hope to gain from the treatments. Then you will be seated in a comfortable reclining chair with your feet raised to enable me to have better access for the treatment. The treatment starts with some gentle relaxing and loosening techniques, and then I will work through all areas of the feet from the toes down to the heels stimulating all the reflex points, with particular emphasis on any problem areas. The treatment will finish with some more relaxing techniques. Hand Reflexology follows a similar process and takes around the same time.
Following a treatment you should feel very relaxed and calm. As part of the healing process and as a result of the release of toxins from the body, you may feel more tired, feel the need for more frequent urination or bowel movement, become more emotional or have a slight headache. But these symptoms are entirely normal and are part of the cleansing process; they should only last a few hours, leaving you feeling envigorated and refreshed.
The number of treatments required will depend on the condition being treated and your body's needs - I will discuss this with you following your first treatment. It is usual to have one treatment per week or fortnight initially, followed by monthly maintenance.
Treatment Time: 1 Hour
